welcome to my homepage

My name is Bo Tan, and my English name is "Rambo". In Chinese, "Bo" means "Ph.D." as a noun or "knowledgeable" as an adjective. I was born in Wenzhou, one of the most famous business cities in China.

In July 2007, I got my B.E. degree with high honor from the Department of Electronic Engineering in Tsinghua University. I got my M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering in the University of Illinois at Urbana - Chmapaign, in 2008 and 2012, respectively. During my 5 years' graduate study, I was a Research Assitant in Coordinated Science Laboratory at UIUC, under the supervision of Professor R. Srikant. My research interests lie in the broad area of communication and information networks, mainly including online advertising, content distribution networks, P2P systems, wired and wireless networks, and data centers.

Currently, I am a senior engineer (Corporate R&D) in Qualcomm New Jersey Research Center. I also worked as a Research Intern at Technicolor Paris Research Lab from Sep. to Dec. in 2009, and a Research Intern at Microsoft Research in Redmond from May to Aug. in 2010.

During my Ph.D. study, I served as the President of Tsinghua University Alumni Association in UIUC (2008-2011), and a board member of Tsinghua University Alumni Association in Great Chicago Area (2009-2011).
