Title: Information Theory and Networks: A Union Still Unconsummated

Speaker: Sreeram Kannan

Abstract: This talk surveys research at the intersection of information theory and networking, especially work done in the past decade. Topics touched upon include scaling laws, opportunistic communication, network coding, cross-layer design, and CSMA techniques.

Speaker Bio

Sreeram Kannan is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Illinois. He obtained his Master of Engineering in telecommunication at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and his Bachelors of Engineering at the College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna Univeristy, Chennai. He is the recepient of the S.V.C. Aiya Medal for the best ME student in the department of ECE at IISc, 2008. His research project received the first prize at the Intel India Student Research Contest, 2006.
