Yingzhen Yang


About me

I am a research scientist on machine learning at Snapchat Research.
I obtained Ph.D. Degree from the ECE Department of UIUC, under the supervision of Professor Thomas S. Huang at Beckman Institute.
I received my B.Eng. and M.Eng. degree (with honor) from College of Computer Science and Technology at Zhejiang University in 2006 and 2009 respectively, under the supervision of the vice chairman of State Key Lab of CAD&CG, Professor Qunsheng Peng.

Research Interests

I am mostly interested in functional analysis, statistics and their applications in machine learning, computer vision and other areas.

Statistical Machine Learning: theory and application of deep learning, subspace clustering, manifold learning, sparse representation, nonparametric models, probabilistic graphical models (online topic models for large scale application and Markov Random Field) and generalization analysis of classification, semi-supervised learning and clustering.

Computer Vision: image classification (improved deep CNNs for ImageNet competition, CUDA C++ implementation), image editing (image colorization, image super-resolution and image completion), large-scale online probabilistic topic models for images and documents (MSR internship work, CUDA C++ implementation).
